Weekend Getaway
Tomorrow afternoon I'm leaving for a girls weekend!!
Thursday, a few of us are staying at a bed and breakfast and then waking up on Friday to go to First Monday in Canton.
On Friday evening, we'll head to Tyler for our Women's Retreat. I can't wait for a little girl time and to see what God has in store for us!
This is the first time I've been away from Payton overnight since she was 4 weeks old. I'm getting a little sad about leaving her for 2 nights, but I know she and Lane will have so much fun and I need this time by myself to recharge my batteries.

No Sleep For You!
This past week, Payton had issues staying asleep once we put her down for the night. I attributed it to a growth spurt since her eating was all over the place. Monday she only had 2 bottles (I kept offering it to her and she didn't ever want it) and a half a jar of baby food. Tuesday, she was eating nonstop to make up for it.
Lane left on Wednesday for Talladega (Nascar race). P and I came to stay with my parents so I would have a little back up, plus I love spending time with my parents and sister. Wednesday night she slept ok... waking 3 times. Thursday night was AWFUL! I put her to bed at 7 (normal time). She was up at 11:00, 12:30...was up playing and laughing until 3:00, and then up for the day at 6:15. Friday night she was up 4 times.
We ended up going to the pediatrician yesterday... P had green snot and was just not herself (see above!). Turns out she has an ear infection, so we have ear drops and antibiotic. Last night she didn't go to bed until midnight (crying and was basically inconsolable) and was up almost every 30 minutes. Hopefully today she'll have some good naps and then sleep better tonight.
Why do the daddy's always miss stuff like this?

Rain Drops On Roses, And Whiskers On Kittens....
These are a few of my favorite things!
Wine Cube from Target. The newest variety is White Sangria. oh. my. goodness. This stuff is fantastic! Seriously the best drink on a warm day. It's crisp, refreshing, and just so good. They have individual "juice box" packs (total liquid is 1L) and the 1.5L cube. $7.99. I've already bought some for our girls night before Canton!
Gillian & O'Malley knit bermuda sleep shorts (Target). HEAVEN! Seriously. These are the most comfortable shorts ever! They're super soft, fit great (much looser than this pic) and the best part... you can be in your pajamas and run to the store... I mean, if you had to ;)
This monitor is AMAZING! I love being able to check on P without having to go upstairs and potentially make noise that wakes her up. It's also fun to sneak a peak when she first wakes up and is just entertaining herself!
Out! Natural Stain and Odor Remover (Walmart). It's in the pet section, but works great on the carpet and on P's clothes! Smells terrific... yummy lemongrass. This gets out all kinds of stuff. It has enzymes that break down the offending stain. Scout tracked mud in last week (of course the carpets were just cleaned) and I didn't even have to scrub! It "ate" the mud out of the carpet! It's amazing on formula stains too!
Dyson Animal. I've had it for a few years, but I will never buy another brand! I'm a convert. The stuff this thing sucks up is incredible. I like to do a little test every few months to make sure it's still working like it should. I vacuum right after the cleaning ladies leave and I will still get a canister full of "stuff". Since P is scooting and rolling all over the floor, I'm vacuuming every other day and this makes it almost fun.

Everyone decided the group was getting too big and we had a big difference in ages, so we split into a young group and an old group.
Payton is only 9 days older than Tate! I think P is an average size 7 month old... Tate is going to be a tiny one.

Barkley Boil '08
Saturday was the 5th Annual Barkley Boil! Since Meredith is pregnant with twins, Lane went over early to help with the preparation and then cook 3 batches of crawfish.
Allison and I made Payton and Trent a pallet in the garage so they could see everyone, but not be in the way.

Mom's Group
For Mom's Group today, we played outside and had a picnic. It was a gorgeous day and all the kiddos loved being outside.
P loved this car! It has a handle for Momma to push!
Cayman wanted a turn to push P.

Blocks
Payton loves her blocks! She also loves to chew on the lid or the bucket, but will dump out the blocks before she starts. If I put one in as she's chewing, she stops, turns it over, and then resumes chewing. She's one smart cookie!

Nope, we're in Texas... in the spring... and you know what that means... weather advisories, storms, and tornadoes.
Thursday morning about 4 am, LC woke up because of the terrible thunderstorm. I woke up for a split second when he turned on the tv and saw lots of red on the map. I fell right back to sleep and the next thing I know, LC is telling me that we need to get downstairs, NOW. I jumped out of bed, ran to P's room and paused for a second to look at her angelic face. Poor baby didn't know what to think when I got her out of bed so early! I grabbed some diapers and we huddled in the downstairs bathroom for about 10 or 15 minutes. True to her easy going personality, she spent the time smiling and talking to me and Scout.
While we were cooking dinner at church on Wednesday night, Jen, Jenni and I were talking about the weather and how we could download something to our phones that would alert us to watches and warnings in our area. A good thing to have if the power went out. When I saw the "rotation" heading toward town I texted Jenni. She replied that she couldn't find the weather anywhere. Not even thinking their power could be out (and in my defense it was super early) I thought, "well just turn on the tv to any local station"! The tornado passed us and was headed right for Momma and Daddy's house. Knowing that they probably weren't up, I decided to call them. I'm sure Mom thought something terrible happened when she saw my number on the caller id. Thankfully the storms passed and no one had any damage to their homes.
This was the second time in 2 weeks that we'd been in the bathroom (the first time I was home with P and Scout by myself... scary!). Yesterday, I made an emergency kit and picked up the closet that's under the stairs. I feel a tad more prepared for middle of the night tornadoes.

Oatmeal
P and I spent the weekend at my parent's house since Lane was at the races all weekend and had friends in town.
Saturday morning we decided to have a picnic on the floor for breakfast! I think there were a few too many distractions since most of the oatmeal went on P instead of in her mouth!
