Babies and Toddlers, Oh My!

My wonderful friend, Elaine, was scheduled to have Baby Boy next Thursday morning. She's had a super rough pregnancy this time around and ended up calling me this morning to take her to the doctor. I had a feeling that the baby was coming today and several weeks ago we talked about the plan if he came early...have the house key, on the "list" to pick up Reese from school, know where the extra carseat is, etc....

E called me about 1:00 to tell me she was being admitted and her C-section would start at 4:00. Her hubby, Jeff, called a little while later asking if I could run to their house to get cameras, phone chargers, etc... It was a crazy afternoon, but P had so much fun with Reese.

Grant Thomas was born at 4:43 weighing in at 7 pounds 14 ounces and is 20 inches long! Welcome to the world baby boy! I can't wait to see you grow up.

No, No!

Scout's food and water bowls are at the end of the kitchen island. P would crawl over and try to splash in the water or try to get a piece of Scout's food (yes, Lane and I both have had to dig out a piece of kibble). One of us would be right behind her and say, "No ma'am" and shake our heads no. Several weeks ago, Scout was trying to eat his dinner and Payton was right behind him. She got in front of him and as he took a bite, she looked at him and shook her head no! Almost like, "if I can't have it, neither can you". Now, anytime she walks over to that general area, she'll look up at me and shake her head.

On Thursday night, P and I were playing and I said, "Payton, will you give Momma a kiss? Kiss me, please." She looked at me, shook her head no and grinned! Every time I would ask, I'd get the same response. I tried to get it on video, but every time the camera comes out she wants to ham it up.

Momma's Mini Me

Payton loves to follow behind me and help me hold the cord when I'm vacuuming.

She is fascinated by my bag and any shoes. Seriously, we have to hid our shoes (and anyone that comes over) because she is instantly drawn to them as soon as someone has bare feet. It's like she has an internal radar that goes off. She'll immediately stop what she's doing and hunt them down. We're in trouble if she's already loving accessories this much. I don't think Lane will know what to do with 2 of us.

10 months old!

I know I say it every month, but time seriously needs to slow down! I cannot believe 10 months have passed since I had this amazing little girl. She is so much fun and I'm just in awe everyday. I'm so glad God chose me to be her momma.

I'm loving all things monogrammed and here's a fabulous site to check out! Her prices are super reasonable and she's offering free shipping until July 30th.

Uh Oh!

Miss Priss is walking all over the place, but today she took a little spill into an end table. A bruise popped up immediately and it's still super swollen.

I Go Out Walkin'

I've been trying to video Payton walking, and this morning I was finally successful!

Bama

We left for Birmingham on Saturday morning to visit Lane's family. We had a good time (busy as usual), but it was nice to get home on Tuesday.

Miss Priss waiting to check in at the airport.

Lane and I were a little nervous about this trip. P was a great traveller when she was 3 months and 5 months... she slept the entire time. We knew it wasn't likely to happen now that she is mobile and is so concerned about everything going on around her. The steward was nice enough to direct people to other open seats so we could have extra room! It was so nice for Payton to be able to move around and not bother anyone. My easy going baby was great even though she didn't nap. She played peek a boo with a gentleman behind us and loved looking out the window!

Conner's 4th birthday party was Saturday afternoon.

We had to do a little shopping before football season starts!

The boys loved it that P was able to play with them this visit.

Our flight left at 8 am on Tuesday and P was fighting her nap, but we finally got her to sleep for the last 30 minutes of the flight. Again, Southwest was great and we were able to have an extra seat between Lane and me.

Two Peas In a Pod

Our wonderful friends, Doug and Meredith, had Camille Ila (5 lbs 10 ozs) and Blythe Elizabeth (5 lbs 8 ozs) on July 10th! Mere made it to 37 1/2 weeks...no bedrest, no complications!

We made it up to the hospital when they were about 7 hours old. They are SOOO tiny!! It was a little strange to hold a newborn again!

4th of July

We spent our 2nd 4th of July with our wonderful friends, Jeff, Elaine and Reese. Last year, I was pregnant with P and this year, Elaine is pregnant (due 8.7.08) with Baby Boy.

We started the day off with the parade downtown. Growing up in Belton, you get spoiled to a HUGE 4th parade. People stake out their places the night before and you have to get there super early that morning. I was expecting the same since the city spent a gazillion dollars promoting their weekend. Yall. It was the.most.disappointing. parade I've ever been to. There were a few fire trucks, a few council people waving from their cars, and some people walking. That's it. We walked around downtown for a little while after the "parade" and then went home to let the girls nap.

(I chopped my hair off the day before)
After everyone was refreshed, we went over to the Renfrow's for a little grilling and homemade icecream. We were commenting on how much things change once kiddos are in the picture and how we can't wait for them to be old enough that it turns into a slumber party for them so we can stay up and have some adult beverages.

Things weren't wild in any respect, but I LOVE it this way. Good food, great friends, and just a relaxing day! I can't wait to see what next year brings when we have a 3 1/2 year old (Reese), a 21 month old (P), and an 11 month old (Baby Boy)!

Good Grief!

Wow! I didn't realize how much time had passed since my last post. We've been blowing and going the past few weeks, but things have settled down for a few days.

Updates shortly :)

Splish, Splash

Yall all know how much of a water baby Payton is...

Here she is on Nonnie and Deeda's back porch. She ate watermelon for breakfast and was all sticky. We decided to just hose her off since it was already 8 million degrees outside. When Nonnie turned off the water, P looked thoroughly confused!

Once she was clean, we headed to the new splash pad in town. As soon as we got there, a little girl ran up to her and gave her the sweetest hug. She grabbed P's hand and wanted them to walk around together. She was so sad when Mom told her Payton couldn't walk by herself yet.

McDonalds Is My Kind Of Place

On the way to Belton, we stopped at McD's in Hillsboro to let P get out of her carseat for a bit. She LOVED the play area and seeing all the kiddos.

A Girl and Her Dog

Payton and Scout had a fun Sunday afternoon! For whatever reason, she was even more enamored with him that day. Poor Scout just puts up with it and gives us a look like, "Can you please help me!"

P would stand up and then flop back on Scout... laughing the whole time.
